My hobby started out initially with photography because it was a family hobby. The science of photography was very intriguing. My first camera was a hand-me-down Canonet f1.9 from my brother at the age of 17. It was a very good camera and lasted me 5 years before I upgraded to my own SLR. During that time I mastered the art of developing and printing my own black and white film and photographs. The interest was so great that I ended up buying a complete Patterson darkroom set which I upgraded with a second-hand Zess Ikon f3.5 lens. Corr, that was sharp! At the age of 26, 2 years after I started work came the first love-of-my-life, a Canon A-1 with a Canon FD 35-70mm f2.8 which cost a bomb but worth the 5 years wait. On a different note, learning photography exposed and educated me in the philosophy of life; the world of opposites, that even ugly things can be very interesting and have a sense of beauty and even beautiful things can be very plain and boring. Allah is great in many ways. However, a few years after that I came to an apex, photography became boring as I found a new love... car modification. |
